      <abstract encodinganalog="5203_">Gladys Young Orlob (1894-1980) was a patron of the arts in Salt Lake City, Utah. A granddaughter of Brigham Young, Orlob served as president of the Brigham Young Granddaughters Association. This collection contains images of Gladys Young Orlob, her family, and the Brigham Young's Granddaughters dating from approximatley the 1930s to 1960s.</abstract>

      <p>Gladys Young Orlob was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, on June 21, 1894 to and Alice Naomi Dowden and Joseph Don Carlos Young. She graduated from the LDS High School and the University of Utah. She married Rudolph Frank Orlob on May 18, 1918; together, they had three daughters. Gladys Orlob was a dedicated patron of the arts, serving as a member of the Utah Symphony and Ballet boards and the Utah Heritage Foundation. She was a charter member of the Art Barn, later renamed to the Salt Lake Art Center. A granddaughter of Brigham Young, Orlob served as president of the Brigham Young Granddaughters Association. Gladys assisted Rudolph Orlob in the founding and management of their family business, the Industrial Supply Company; at the time of her death, she was serving as chairman emeritus of the company's board of directors. A member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Orlob was a Primary teacher and first counselor in the Relief Society in the University and Federal Heights Wards.</p>
      <p> Gladys Young Orlob died on August 9, 1980.</p>
