      <abstract encodinganalog="5203_">Charles Francis Hawkes (1887-1951) was a Helena, Montana,
        businessman and partner in Nilan and Hawkes, an automotive parts supply firm. Helen Kukolsky
        was born in LaCrosse, Wisconsin and moved to Helena around 1901. This photograph collection
        spans 1905-1913 and includes photographs of Charles Hawkes, his family, Helen Kukolsky's
        family, and some of his business interests including the International Harvester
        Company.</abstract>

    <bioghist encodinganalog="5450_">
      <p>Charles Francis Hawkes was born May 10, 1887, in Helena, Montana. He attended the Helena
        Business College and became an office manager and accountant for International Harvester
        Company. He also worked as a cashier for T.C. Power Motor Company, was employed by the U.S.
        Internal Revenue Service, and eventually was a partner in the auto parts business, Nilan and
        Hawkes, an automotive parts supplier firm in Helena. He later maintained his own general
        accounting agency. Hawkes was also a member of the Catholic Church and a fourth degree
        member of the Knights of Columbus.</p>
      <p>Helen Kukolsky was born in LaCrosse, Wisconsin, on May 29, 1887. Her family moved to Helena
        about 1901. She attended Hawthorne School in 1901 and Central School in 1902. Charles and
        Helen were married in 1908. He died on March 2, 1951, and was survived by his wife and two
        daughters. Mrs. Hawkes lived at the family home until her death on May 15, 1971.</p>
      <p>Joseph Kukolsky was a brew master at Kessler Brewery in Helena. His brother was John K.
        Kukolsky, whose children were Eddie, Philip, and Mamie.</p>
      <p>Barbara Kukolsky Wiggins (sister of Sarah Kukolsky) was married to Robert Wiggins. Their
        children were Danny and Earl. Emma Wiggins Delaney was Robert Wiggins' stepdaughter.</p>
      <p>Mrs. Dumback was a cousin of Sarah Kukolsky.</p>

      <p>The photographs in the Hawkes and Kukolsky families photograph collection contain a variety
        of subjects that cover interests and activities of the Hawkes and Kukolsky families and
        others, spanning 1905-1913. This includes images such as Charles Francis Hawkes with a
        Helena Business College group, wedding and first communion ceremonies, International
        Harvester Company displays and machinery, and Kessler Brewery workers. The photographs are
        arranged by subject in alphabetical order, beginning with family names.</p>
