Erich Stephan Klossner was born in Herman, MO, to William C Klossner and Wilhelmina Modro, 1895. He moved with his family to Pullman in 1902 and attended Washington State College from 1914 to 1918, graduating with a B.A. in Modern Languages. After graduating Klossner worked in Pullman until 1962, first as a florist and later with the U.S. Postal Service.

Erich S. Klossner was married in 1920 to Alma Hinrichs, with whom he had two children, Gordon and Wendell. Klossner was an active member of the Pullman community for most of his life, and was a member of writers organizations and Toastmasters International. He died circa 1989.
