Organizational History:
The Washington State University Department of Zoology, established in 1916 in the School of Sciences and Arts, prepares students to specialize in general zoology, zoophysiology, or other areas of biological science, i.e., medicine, pharmacy, dentistry, veterinary medicine, or wildlife biology. The department was headed by Dr. Robert Webster from 1926 to 1947 and by Dr. Herbert L. Eastlick from 1947 to 1965. Dr. Eastlick's successor was Dr. Richard A. Parker.
The records of the Department of Zoology, 1944-1975, are arranged in a single series. The records include minutes of departmental meetings, correspondence, and both departmental memoranda and memoranda pertaining to the Smoot Hill Project.
The Collection is open for research use.
The records of the Department of Zoology were transferred to the University Archives, Washington State University, in 1976 (WSU 170).
