			<p>John Boyington Hitchcock (1917-2014) was a lifelong resident of the state of
				Washington, and attended the State College of Washington (later Washington State
				University) as an undergraduate and graduate student. Interviewed in 2010,
				Hitchcock, then 90 years of age, recalled his boyhood in Ocosta, near Grays Harbor,
				Washington, his high school years, coming to Eastern Washington to attended
				Washington State College, and his early years as a secondary education teacher.
				Hitchcock also recounts his service in World War II and return to teaching after the
				war. He served as superintendent of schools in Rosalia and Forks, Washington.</p>

			<p>This collection consists of audio recordings (eight audiocassettes) of an oral
				history interview of John B. Hitchcock by Nancy Talbot Doty, conducted in 2010. Also
				included is the transciption of the oral history entitled "Out of Ocosta," and
				related documentation of Hitchcock's life.</p>
