Arthur Max Krause was born in 1910 in Breslau, Germany. After graduating from university, he served as an administrator of justice until 1939. In 1939, Arthur joined the German Army as a Lieutenant and participated in the Battle of Kursk against the Red Army. He later was decorated for his achievements. He was captured in 1944 by the Red Army and spent two years in a prisoner of war camp. In 1946, he was freed and made his way to Kiel, Germany, to be reunited with his wife Emma. Emma Usche Latschinske was born in 1911 in Breslau, Germany. Emma and Arthur were married in 1933. During World War II, Emma was a survivor of the Breslau death march of women and children. In January 1944 the Red Army broke through to Breslau causing the women and children of the town to evacuate to Liebnitz in the West. Emma and Arthur were reunited and they came to the United States in 1953. Both worked at the Hiller Industry which was German-owned and operated. Arthur and Emma were very active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS) Church. Arthur served as a high priest. Emma served as a Relief Society President in Kiel and later worked at the Salt Lake Temple. Arthur Krause died 19 February 1980 and Emma died 11 April 1999.
