		  photographers. Also includes photos of local artists and their works on
		  exhibition. Many representatives of local performance institutions</abstract></did><bioghist encodinganalog="5450_" id="a2"><p>Maxine Cushing Gray was the music crtic for Seattle Post-Intelligencer
		  between 1951 and 1953, and arts editor of "Argus," Seattle, from 1954 to 1974.
		  Subsequently in 1975, she published and edited "Northwest Arts," a bi-weekly,
		  Seattle publication. Gray emphasized in her columns, the need to recognize the
		  rights of minority groups, and especially the Indians of the Northwest. She was
		  a staunch advocate for performance dance.</p></bioghist><scopecontent encodinganalog="5202_" id="a3"><p>Images of theater, dance, opera, and symphony peformances, many taken
		  by professional photographers. Also includes photos of local artists and their
		  works on exhibition. Many representatives of local performance institutions are
