			<p>Gieve Patel, born in 1940, has distinguished himself as a poet, playwright, and
				painter as well as a physician. He has written three books of poetry, three plays,
				and has organized several exhibitions of his artwork. His poetry and plays explore
				themes of inequality between classes, human flaws and frailty, and violence.</p>

			<p>This collection contains two annotated plays (photocopied typescripts) written by
				Indian playwright Gieve Patel: "Princes" and "Savaksa." "Princes" takes place in a
				recently independent Parsi village whose people struggle to maintain their way of
				life in a changing world. "Savaksa" follows the life of Savaksa and his family, who
				live in a well-established house in a growing town. Patel won several awards for
				each of these plays.</p>
