  	<head>Biography of Jimmie Grier</head><p>Jimmie Grier played with Gus Arnheim before he became the leader of his own popular jazz band in the 1930s.  During World War II he played with Rudy Vallee in the Coast Guard. He played the saxophone, the clarinet, and the violin; and he was the composer of the popular song, "Object of My Affection".</p>

  	<head>Scope and Content</head><p>The Jimmie Grier collection contains sheet music, contracts, photographs,  and scrapbooks from 1935 and World War II.  There is also a photo album-scrapbook from a trip with Gus Arnheim to Europe in 1929.  The collection also contains 78 and 33 1/3 rpm phonograph records plus reel-to-reel tape recordings.</p>
