Bessie L. Wacholz (1903-1985) was the great-niece of renowned sharpshooter Annie Oakley. Born Bessie Lucille Lindsey in Tennessee in 1903,
she was one of fifteen siblings. In 1930, she married Otto August Wacholz, with whom she had four children. Although she only met her
great-aunt Annie Oakley once in person, Wacholz maintained a regular correspondence with her and remembered her fondly. Bessie Wacholz
passed away in Arizona in 1985 at the age of 81.
