         <p>Joseph B. "Squire Joe" Sanders lived from 1813 to 1890. He was born in Kentucky, and traveled West to Walla Walla as a young adult. He was the son of Joseph and Harriet Sanders. In 1830 Sanders married Sarah "Sally" Fritz, a Dutch woman who lived from 1815 to 1878.</p>

         <p>The Joseph B. Sanders diary contains materials related to Joseph B. Sanders of Walla Walla, Washington. These papers, which date from 1856 through 1880, consist of a handwritten diary kept by Joseph B. Sanders between January 1, 1856 to May 31, 1880, as well as correspondence between descendants and others regarding efforts to acquire, reproduce, and preserve it.</p>
