Administrative Note

The First National Bank and Trust Company of Helena, Montana, was formed in May 1931 as a
merger of the American National Bank, the Montana Trust and Savings Bank, and the National
Bank of Helena. Original officers were Thomas A. Marlow, president; Trevor O. Hammond, Fred
Heinecke, and Ford Johnson, vice presidents; and Leon S. Hazard, cashier. A. C. Johnson was
chairman of the board. The board of directors represented a broad cross-section of the
Helena business community. On the death of Marlow in 1937 Trevor O. Hammond became
president. He was succeeded in 1941 by Fred Heinecke. The First National Bank and Trust
Company merged into the First Bank System in 1989.
