			<p>The Health and Safety Committee was a subcommittee of the University Senate. Prior to
				the reorganization of the University Senate in 1971 the Health and Safety Committee
				was a presidential committee. Committees of the University Senate were intended to
				act as liaisons between the faculty, students, and the administration, the committee
				acts by request of the University Senate on Health and Safety concerns. Committees
				were composed of eight faculty members , three students, an elected Director and
				Chairman. The University Senate was reorganized in 1971. </p>

			<p>The collection consists of administrative documents of the Health and Safety
				committee from 1956-1969. It includes committee meeting notes, and correspondence
				with local law enforcement and safety concern reports. Also includes handwritten
				notes from committee members during meetings. The collection contains all these
				elements for each school year. </p>

			<p>This is an unprocessed collection. Any arrangement reflects either a pre-existing
				order from the records' creators or previous custodians, or preliminary sorting
				performed by staff. </p>
			<p>The collections consists of a series of notebooks, with each notebook covering one
				school year. The materials are in chronological order.</p>
