			<p>Henry Bayard Milne was born to William and Bessie Milne in Walla Walla, Washington in
				1915. He grew up in western Oregon, and earned his bachelor's degree from Oregon
				State University in 1937. He continued his studies at Northwestern University,
				earning a Ph.D. in organic chemistry in 1941. He served in the United States Army in
				World War II, and joined the faculty of Washington State University after the war,
				in 1946. He remained at WSU for the rest of his career, retiring in 1977.</p>

			<p>This collection consists of professional papers of Washington State University
				organic chemistry professor and researcher Bayard Milne. It includes materials
				related to his research and teaching: research notes and data, articles and papers,
				grant materials, notes for courses taught by Milne, and materials related to the
				establishment of a Ph.D. program in chemistry. The collection contains
				correspondence, notebooks, charts and graphs, and a small number of photographs
				(negatives).</p>
