Richard Connell (1893-1949) was a reporter, magazine writer, author, and screenwriter. He graduated from Harvard University in 1915. During WWI, Connell sold his first short story and went on to become a well-known short story author for the Saturday Evening Post and Collier’s Weekly through the 1940s. His short story “The Most Dangerous Game” was awarded the O. Henry Memorial Award in 1924. In all, Connell authored over 300 short stories, two screenplays, and four novels.
Collection contains correspondence; books written by Connell, including The Mad Lover, Murder at Sea, Variety, What Ho!, The Sin of Monsieur Pettipon, Apes and Angles, Ironies, and The Most Dangerous Game; a bibliography of Connell’s works that include his short stories for The Saturday Evening Post, Playboy, Cosmopolitan, and others; screenplays for silent films and motion pictures; and a photograph of Connell.
There are no access restrictions on the materials for research purposes, and the collection is open to the public.
