      <p>This collection consists of: farmer's diaries and accounts (1893-1929) of E. Harry Carpenter, Carroll County, Illinois, brother of H.V. Carpenter, who was the first dean of the College of Mechanic Arts and Engineering at Washington State University. Also accounts and tax receipts (1859-1889) of their father, Charles Higley Carpenter. The 1893 diary records service as guard at the 1893 Columbian Exposition in Chicago, and the guards' rule book is also included.</p>
