      <p>Cicero Hunt Lewis (1826-1897), also known as Cicero Horatius Lewis, was a pioneer Portland merchant. He was born in New Jersey and arrived in Portland in 1851. He founded a mercantile firm, Allen and Lewis, with Lucius H. Allen. He married Clementine Couch in 1857. He was active in many civic and promotional enterprises, and helped incorporate Oregon Central Railroad. He was a promoter of the Willamette Bridge Company and city water works.</p>
