         <p>John Joseph Villair (1876-?) was an Oregon pioneer and resident of Josephine County.  In 1887, Villair travelled with his family from Grand Rapids, Michigan to Boulder Creek, California. Thereafter he came to Oregon.</p>

         <p>The collection consists of a typed transcription of Villair's reminiscences as told to John C. Kuhns.  </p>
         <p>Villair describes his family's journey to California to meet up with his father, and subsequent experiences as log skid greaser (at age 12), and later horse team driver for California logging companies.  </p>
         <p>Villair goes into considerable detail describing logging tools and methods, as well as the characters he met in logging camps and communities.</p>
