  	<head>Biography of Herbert Wendell Gleason</head><p>Herbert Wendell Gleason was a professional photographer who recorded many areas of the North American continent between 1899-1934. He photographed western wilderness areas, California missions, the horticultural experiments of Luther Burbank, Eastern mansions and formal gardens, Boston's Arnold Arboretum, both cultivated and wild flowers, the Canadian Rockies, Yosemite and other National Parks. Many of his photographs are compiled in his book "Western Wilderness of North America."</p>

  	<head>Scope and Content</head><p>The Herbert Wendell Gleason papers contain photographs of various locations including Glacier National Park, Zion Canyon, Kings River Canyon, the Grand Canyon, Bryce Canyon, Sequoia Park, Mount Ranier, Yellowstone National Park, as well as the flora and fauna found in many of the National parks.</p>
