The Board of Regents historically served as the governing body of the University of Utah. In 1969 the name was changed to the Institutional Council when the State Board of Higher Education adopted the name of the State Board of Regents. In 1991 the Institutional Council became the current Board of Trustees.
The first series of this collection consists of two linear feet of paper hardcopies of the Board of Trustees meeting minutes dating from August 2012 to November 2025. Prior to 2013, these minutes would have been microfilmed in the President's Office at the end of each fiscal year. The microfilm version was the official copy of Board of Trustees minutes, as well as for minutes of preceeding bodies. Copies of minutes can also be found online at the
