			<p>John Foote Guido (1929-2000) served as the director of the Manuscripts, Archives, and
				Special Collections (MASC) unit of the Washington State University Libraries from
				1977 until 1997. Before moving to Eastern Washington, Guido, who was trained as a
				historian, began his library career in New York, at Cornell and Hofstra
				Universities, as well as at the New York State Historical Association and State
				University of New York at Binghamton (now Binghamton University). He served as the
				editor for The Record, the journal of the Friends of the Washington State University
				Libraries, secretary of the Friends of the Libraries, and as president of Northwest
				Archivists, Inc. He died in 2000 in Spokane.</p>

			<p>This collection consists of professional papers of John F. Guido. It includes
				materials related to his research on the history of publishing in Washington state:
				notes, drafts of conference papers, lists of sources, and collected materials. The
				collection also includes a file related to documentation of Hispanic communities in
				Washington.</p>
