  	<head>Biography of Fay Gillis Wells and Linton Wells</head>
  	<p>Fay Gillis Wells was an aviator and journalist. She gained her pilot's license in 1929 and traveled in Russia, China, and Ethiopia as a foreign correspondent during the 1930s. She married journalist Linton Wells in 1935. From 1964 to 1977 she was a White House correspondent for Storer Broadcasting Company. She re-visited China in 1972 with President Richard Nixon's entourage.</p>
  	<p>Linton Wells was a journalist and adventurer. He covered the Russian Revolution, Hollywood, and Japan during the 1920s. In 1938 he and his wife, Fay Gillis Wells, began radio broadcasts from Latin America for "The Magic Key of RCA". During the 1940s the couple headquartered in West Africa, buying strategic materials for the U.S. war effort. From 1963 to 1972 Linton Wells headed the Washington News Bureau for Storer Broadcasting Company.</p>

  	<head>Scope and Content</head><p>The collection contains research material, correspondence, and memorabilia from the careers of Fay Gillis Wells and Linton Wells. Included are subject files about West Africa and broadcasting in Latin America; correspondence from Russia from the 1930s; photographs from the Wells's travels; and scrapbooks. There are also audiotapes, press releases, photographs, and programs from Fay Gillis Wells's years as a White House correspondent. In addition, there are scripts and manuscripts of writings of Linton Wells and Fay Gillis Wells.</p>
