Elizabeth Flores was born in Santa Ana, California, in 1976. She grew up in Mexico with her mother and siblings, with occasional visits to California, where her father worked. In 1989, the family moved to Anaheim, California. Flores married Ozvaldo Gonzalez in 2000, and they later had two children. She earned a medical degree from the University of California, Los Angeles, in 2004, and in 2008, she and her family moved to Portland, Oregon. She later opened her own medical clinic, called HousecallMD, which makes house calls to geriatric patients.

This oral history interview with Elizabeth Flores was conducted by Sankar Raman, Nancy Dollahite, and Britany Cano-Briceno on January 20, 2020. The interview was recorded for The Immigrant Story, an organization that documents and archives the stories of immigrants and refugees in the United States.
In this interview, Flores discusses her early life in rural Mexico with her mother and siblings, while her father worked in California. She talks about moving to California in 1989, and talks about adjusting to life in the United States, including learning English. She shares her experiences as a Spanish speaker in California public schools, talks about her relationship with her family, and speaks about a teacher who helped her succeed in school. She shares her reasons for going to college in Northern California, and talks about studying to become a doctor. She also discusses her marriage to Ozvaldo Gonzalez, and talks about starting a family while attending medical school. She shares her reasons for focusing on geriatric medicine. She then talks about moving to Portland, Oregon, in 2008, and speaks about her medical clinic, HousecallMD, which makes house calls for geriatric patients. She closes the interview by discussing her identity as a Mexican American.
