<p>This collection contains a variety of reports and estimates related to the activities of the Agricultural Extension Service in Washington State for the first half of the twentieth century. The sole container of this collection contains a varied array of reports by the Directors of the Agricultural Extension Service for a substantial period of 26 years, long term project progress reports detailing activities from 1924-1934, rural Washington housing and standard of living surveys, reports from the Kellogg foundation on the progress of their programs, and other ephemeral items of interest to scholars of U.S. agricultural history. This collection illustrates the changes occurring in Washington State agriculture for a period of 52 years as well as provides depth of knowledge on the activities and efforts of Washington State Extension Service employees at mitigating and reversing many of the damaging agricultural policies that led to the erosion of topsoil and failures in U.S. agriculture in the 1930s.
