Primarily concerned with departmental needs, evaluations and plans, the collection includes memoranda, statistics, meeting agenda, correspondence, minutes, newsletters, personnel guidelines, and reports.
Organizational History:
Electrical engineering courses have been a part of the curriculum at Washington State University since 1892. Initially, however, these courses were offered under the auspices of the Department of Mechanical Engineering. In 1903 the name was changed to the Department of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering and in 1917 this department was incorporated into the College of Mechanical Arts and Engineering. A separate Department of Electrical Engineering was established in 1933.
The records of the Department of Electrical Engineering consist of a single, alphabetically arranged subject file; the date from 1945 to 1974, although most are after 1955. The series is primarily concerned with departmental needs, evaluations and plans; it consists of memoranda, statistics, meting agenda, correspondence, minutes, newsletters, personnel guidelines, and reports.
The Collection is open for research use.
The records of the Department of Electrical Engineering were transferred to the University Archives, Washington State University, in August 1978 (UA 78- 31) in accordance with, the approved records schedule.
