      <abstract encodinganalog="description">35 mm color slides taken mainly by William A. Wilson
            during 1978-1985. Subjects of slides include the Mendon, Utah's May Day Celebration,
            Southern Utah's Folklife Festival, the Library of Congress's Paradise Valley, Nevada,
            Fieldwork Project, the Utah Arts Council's Folk Arts Program activities, student
            fieldwork, such as Swiss Easter egg dyeing and Logan, Utah, Halloween yard art, and
            other folklife activities. Also includes some slides by other Utah State University
            Folklore Program fieldworkers and students.</abstract>

      <p>Open to public research. To access the collection a patron must have the following
            information: collection number, box number, folder number and item number. The materials
            do not circulate and are available in USU's Special Collections and Archives.</p>

      <p>It is the responsibility of the user to obtain permission to publish from the owner of

      <p>The materials in this collection were donated by Professor William A. Wilson to the Fife
            Folklore Archives. In the spring of 2001, on a visit to the Fife Folklore Archives,
            Barbara [Walker] Lloyd reviewed and identified the images and photographers. In 2005,
            Randy Williams reviewed and organized the material and boxed and foldered the collection. Finding aid 
            created by Randy Williams, 2001; updated March 2012.</p>

      <head>Historical note</head>
      <p>William A. (Bert) Wilson directed Utah State University's Folklore Program and Fife
            Folklore Archives from 1978-1985. During that time he also conducted folklore fieldwork
            to use in his own research, his classes, and for grant projects. This collection
            comprises the slides that Professor Wilson took during this time. The collection also
            includes the slides of other fieldworkers who worked on the same projects of Wilson.</p>

      <p>The materials in the Collection include slides on Mendon, Utah's May Day Celebration,
            Southern Utah's Folklife Festival, the Library of Congress's Paradise Valley, Nevada,
            Fieldwork Project, the Utah Arts Council's Folk Arts Program activities. There is no
            metadata for the slides. For more information on the Paradise Valley project go to
            American Folklife Center: Nevada. The collection is housed in an acid-free box and
            sorted into separate folders and stored in USU's Special Collections.</p>
