Mary Ellen McCaffree was born in 1918. She was the state representative from the 32nd District, 1962-1970. During her term in office she chaired the House Committee on Revenue and Taxation, 1966-1970; as well as the Governor's Tax Advisory Council. In 1969 she led a special Citizen's Tax Reform Committee in a state-wide campaign for tax reform. After her re-election defeat by Pete Francis in 1970, she was appointed to head the Governor's Committee for a New Tax Policy. She married Kenneth M. McCaffree. She was an officer in the League of Women Voters from 1947-1958.
