  		<p>This collection consists of two muster rolls, the official lists of enlisted men and
  			officers comprising a military unit, of the First Regiment of Infantry stationed at Fort
  			Crawford (later Prairie du Chien, WI), Michigan Territory. The rolls are dated October 29,
  			1832 and December 10, 1832 and signed by Col. Zachary Taylor, future president of the United
  			States. Taylor assumed command of this regiment in April of 1832.</p>

	 	<p>This collection consists of two muster rolls, a listing of enlisted men and officers, and
	 		their locations and assignments, in the First Regiment of Infantry of the United States Army
	 		dated 1832, during the Black Hawk War. Both rolls are signed by Col. Zachary Taylor, the
	 		regiment's commanding officer and future 12th president of the United States. Officers
	 		listed include second lieutenant Jeffrson Davis.</p>
