         <p>Lillian Caldwell Blackwood was an Oregon pioneer who lived in Jacksonville, Oregon. Her correspondence received includes letters from Mrs. M. J. Courtney (address unknown), 1877-1880; Richard Blackwood, Tombstone, Arizona, 1880-1881; and Kate Murray, Murfreesboro, Tennessee, 1892-1897. They all concern family matters and social news.</p>

         <p>The collection (1877-1928) contains correspondence regarding family and Oregon society, and photographs.</p>
         <p>Correspondence consists of sixty-five letters and concerns family matters and social news. </p>
         <p>Correspondents are Mrs. M. J. Courtney, address unknown, 1877-1880; Richard Blackwood, Tombstone, Arizona, 1880-1881; and Kate Murray, Murfreesboro, Tennessee, 1892-1897.</p>
         <p>The collection also includes five photographs of Blackwood and friends or family, circa 1900-1928; one photograph is a portrait of Andy Boise, an African-American man, in a suit with cane, c. 1880s. Photographs have been separated from the rest of the collection for preservation reasons, and are stored under the call number, PH236.</p>
