  		<p>Washington State University as an institution dates to 1890, when it was authorized by the newly-formed State of Washington.</p>

	 	<p>This collection consists of five recorded albums of materials significant to Washington State College. Beyond format and their all being found together on shelf, most of the items bear no relationship to each other.</p>

  		<p>Important: Certain older formats of albums (shellac, or early vinyl) can be damaged by modern diamond needles, and these albums should be evaluated before attempting to play them.</p>

	 	<p>The albums are stored flat. The only ordering is due to size, for ease in storing and protecting the collection.</p>

	 	<p>In 1979, these were recorded onto audio cassettes, which were them placed in MASC as CT (Cassette Tape) collections. They are held as CT 6, CT7, CT8, and CT9. Some of these may have since been digitized. The "Cougar Pep Songs" noted above is held there as CT5.</p>
