Nard Jones was born in Seattle, Washington in 1904 to Nelson Jones and Edith Benedict. He attended Whitman College in Walla Walla, Washington and graduated in 1926 with honors in English Literature. At Whitman, he was an honorary member of Phi Beta Kappa and founded the college's literary magazine, blue moon. In 1928, he married Elisabeth Dunphy and then later remarried to Anne Mynar after Dunphy's death. Jones was a radio commentator, Chief Editorial Writer for the Seattle Post-Intelligencer, and an author. Some of his publications include: "Swift Flows the River," "Evergreen Land," "Wheat Women," "All Six Were Lovers," "The Great Command," and others. Additionally, he published many newspaper and magazine articles. Jones had three kids: Blair Anthony, Lawrie Anne, and Deborah Anne. He died in 1972 in Bellevue, Washington.
