    <bioghist encodinganalog="5451_">
      <p>The Washington Floricultural Association was established in 1969 to
		  provide benefits to flower growers and the producers of related floricultural
		  products. Membership includes ninety greenhouse firms and twenty suppliers of
		  allied products. This Association functions as a trade association working to
		  improve the conditions under which the industry operates. In working toward
		  this end, the Washington Floricultural Association sponsors the Greenhouse
		  Management Institute. This annual educational conference and trade fair is
		  attended by greenhouse managers, growers, and suppliers from Washington,
		  Oregon, Idaho, Montana, Utah, California, and British Columbia. Speakers
		  discuss a wide range of topics from the growing of specific plants to
		  legislation that affects greenhouses. </p>

      <p>This group of records consists of the minutes of the Association's
		  different meetings, the Washington Floricultural Association newsletter
		  "Washline" and records of the Greenhouse Management Institute. All papers are
		  arranged chronologically within each file. </p>

    <arrangement encodinganalog="351">
      <p>The collection is organized into 5 series: Business, Correspondence,
		  Greenhouse Management Institute, The Miscellanea, and Writings. </p>
      <p>The Business series contains minutes of the Association's various
		  meetings, the Association's membership lists, and material relating to a court
		  case with which the Association was involved concerning the taxing of plants
		  grown in containers. </p>
      <p>Within the Correspondence file of the Washington Floricultural
		  Association are letters that relate to the property tax case.</p>
      <p>The Greenhouse Management Institute series contains working papers for
		  conferences, correspondence of the Institute, and related materials.</p>
      <p> The Miscellanea contains a short note that is sent with requested
		  materials and flyers on coming events of interest.</p>
      <p> The Writings series contains copies of the Washington Floricultural
		  Association newsletter
