Historical NoteReturn to Top
The Current Century Club was first organized as a study club in October 1899. It became affiliated with the city federation in April 1902 and with the state federation in April 1903, although it was dropped from the state federation on November 4, 1955. The club was active in the local community, and participated in social and charitable work. In 1904, club members organized the opening ceremonies for the Carnegie Free Library in Ballard, which included readings and musical programs. Between 1899 and October 1924, membership was limited to 25 members and the club met every alternate Tuesday between October 1 and May 31. In October 1924, membership was raised to 30.
