Blanche Lofton (1885-1971) was an Oregon poet and author. She was born in Nebraska, and moved to Portland in 1905 along with her husband, Frank R. Lofton. She served as poetry critic and editor of the Spectator, an Oregon literary weekly, and published numerous poems in the "Poet's Corner" of the Oregon Journal. Her first collection of poetry, Mazama and Wecoma, was published in 1952, followed by Lincoln Memorial(1959) and Song of the Seasons(1963).

The collection consists of manuscripts of Lofton's poetry and prose, correspondence, scrapbooks, and miscellaneous papers.

Manuscripts include typed copies of Lofton's poems, with revisions, organized alphabetically. There are also typescripts of articles and radio broadcasts including The Beaver Hat (a drama in free verse-incomplete) and a profile of Edna St. Vincent Millay.

Correspondence consists primarily of letters between Lofton and the poet Ethel Romig Fuller(1883-1965). There is also a single folder of "other" correspondence.

There are eight binders of published poetry, both Lofton's and others. Some clippings about Lofton are also included in these scrapbooks.

Miscellaneous papers include a folder of photographs of Lofton and her family, certificates, and a poem by Larry Lofton (Blanche Lofton's son).
