The University of Washington's School of Medicine established the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology in 1948. The Chair oversees five divisions (Education, Gynecologic Oncology, Perinatal Medicine, and Reproductive Endocrinology & Women's Health Care) responsible for providing quality primary and specialty women's health care; contributing to exemplary teaching for medical students, residents, fellows, and other post-graduate scholars; participating in and encouraging basic and clinical scientific investigation; and maintaining the highest ethical and moral standards in all activities.
