Biographical NoteReturn to Top

Joe Pancerzewski (1905-1991) was a fiddler from White Earth, North Dakota. He played the fiddle with various dance bands across Western Canada and Washington state during his youth. In 1927, he went to work at a railroad company and gave up fiddling entirely when he was promoted to engineer in 1939. However, when he retired in 1970, he picked up the fiddle again and began performing at fiddle competitions. His opponents at the local and national contests found him unbeatable.
