Content DescriptionReturn to Top

This collection includes photos of various buildings in the Pacific Northwest (hotels, pyschiatric hospitals, schools, universities, sanitariums, etc.), nature scenes (creeks/streams, Arrowrock dam, Thunder Mountain pinnacle, boats, etc.), and people (students, portraits, fisherman, specific people, etc.).

The majority of photographs were taken by John B. Wilson, a professional photographer based out of Lewiston, Idaho in the early 20th century.[1] Other photographers include the famous Asahel Curtis, Walter Lubken of Boise, Idaho, and I.W. (Isaiah West) Taber of San Francisco. Other photography studios include Taylor Studio of Helena, Montana, Ball Studio of Corvallis, Steers Studio (location unknown), and Whiter Photo Co. (location unknown).

Unfortunately, not much is known about John B. Wilson other than the fact that he was "a professional photographer in Lewiston, Idaho, between 1915 and 1920."[2] According to the "Bulletin of Photography: The Weekly Magazine for the Professional Photographer," "J.B. Wilson, formerly of Lewiston, Idaho, has purchased the Springer-Sipe Co. Studio, of Kelso, Washington" in 1921.[3]
