Historical NoteReturn to Top
Ella Richter Enger was born on April 28, 1897 to Paula Ehrenburg and Otto Richter of Germany. She attended the University of Washington from 1915 to 1919, graduating in the spring of 1919 with a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Washington College of Liberal Arts. As a student, she was a member of the Alpha Xi Delta sorority, women's hockey team, Women's Athletic Association, YWCA, Sacajawea Debating Society, and Women's League War Work Campaign. She was also her class treasurer and was a Student Advisor. After graduation, Ella married Harold Enger and together they ran the Enger Hardware store in Lakewood, Washington. Ella died in July 1986 in Shoreline, Washington.
