Historical NoteReturn to Top

The North American Interfraternity Conference is a governing association which oversees 70 international fraternities, including all the fraternities on Whitman's campus. It was founded in 1909 to aid in fraternity affairs and promote greek life in the United States and Canada. The association was established on campus when the first two official fraternities: Phi Delta Theta, and Beta Theta Pi colonized campus in 1915. The Interfraternity Council, or IFC manages inter-fraternity affairs, hosts scholastic, academic, and social events, and assists in greek philanthropy events. The group serves as a link between the school board and the fraternitie,s and hosts Greekend with its sorority counterpart, the Panhellenic Association.
