Historical NoteReturn to Top

Hossein 'Omoumi (1944-) is a scholar, composer, and teacher of Persian traditional music from Isfahan, Iran. His father taught him vocal skills as a child, and at age 14 he started staying the ney--the traditional reed flute of Iran. He was later accepted as a tutorial student at the National Superior Conservatory of Music in Tehran, where he studied under masters including Mahmud Karimi and Farhad Fakhreddini. During his career he has performed around the world and taught at institutions including the National Conservatory, Tehran University, University of California Los Angeles, and the University of Washington. He is currently Maseeh Professor in Persian Performing Arts of music at the University of California, Irvine.

Original DAT recording by Gary Louie: 2004-5.1 OT (44.1 kHz sampling rate) (includes entire concert); WD copies include the first half of the concert on disc 1 (57:54) and the second half on disc 2 (40:09).

Error reports for several CD copies included in documentation file; WDs processed by Gary Louie using Sound Design II and Jam.
