Biographical NoteReturn to Top
Kenneth Kyler Sherwood (1902-1971) was born on July 23rd, 1902 in New Windsor, Illinois. He was educated at the University of Minnesota (B.S. 1923, M.B. 1925, M.D. 1926). He was in private practice in internal medicine in Stillwater, Minnesota (1927-1929) and Kirkland, Washington (1929-1937) and Seattle, Washington (1937-1951). Starting in 1931 his practice focused solely on arthritis. He joined the University of Washington Medical School faculty in 1935 and ultimately held the post of Clinical Associate Professor of Medicine. He was head of the arthritis clinic at King County Hospital and was active in various Seattle and Eastside professional organizations.
Retired as King County Hospital System general superintendent in 1963. Previously was medical director of Harborview County Hospital. He did research for a history of medicine in Washington State.
