Beginning in 1916, Washington State Normal School's Dean of Women ran the predecessor to the current University Housing Office of Central Washington University. Prior to that date, the principal’s secretary managed housing for incoming students. Through the years, the Housing Office has served under various administrative departments, including the Dean of Men, the Dean of Students, and the Housing Director. It is currently subsumed under the Student Affairs and Enrollment Management Division at the university.
