Biographical NoteReturn to Top

Kay Joyce Kinghammer was a poet and teacher. She was born on September 14, 1945 in Seattle, Washington and earned a degree in English from the University of Washington in 1972. She published five books of poetry and was published in many journals and anthologies. She was also the featured writer at many poetry festivals and reading series, including Bumbershoot and Blackwater International Poetry Festival in Ireland. Kinghammer taught writing at Nathan Hale High School and Seattle University, and worked for many years at the University of Washington School of Public Affairs. She died on January 19, 2018 in Seattle.
