Historical NoteReturn to Top

John B. Miller (26 June 1912 - 21 February 2000) was a writer from Bovill, Idaho most known for his book "The Trees Grew Tall" which recorded the history of Bovill and the surrounding area.[1] "He grew up in Bovill and graduated from Bovill High School and the University of Idaho. After graduation, he went to work as a geologist for Standard Oil of California, spending many years in Columbia and Venezuela. In 1962, he was transferred to the company offices in San Francisco where he remained until retirement."[2]

Miller visited his hometown of Bovill, Idaho quite regularly and was also an "active member of the Latah County Historical Society, contributing several stories and articles for their periodical, Latah Legacy."[3]

Miller married Mary Pastora Escobar on 10 September 1938 in Bogota, Columbia and they had two daughters (Carolyn Miller and Mara Francyon) and two sons (George and Allen Miller).[4]
