Biographical NoteReturn to Top
Maria Seo (1939-) is a musician, scholar, teacher, and ethnomusicologist from Korea. She received an MA in piano from Seoul National University. After moving to the United States, Seo became a lecturer and ethnomusicologist at the University of Washington--where she studied and lectured on Korean music and culture. She is also known for her volunteer work as an advisor on Korean arts and traditions for Seattle museums such as the Seattle Asian Art Museum and the UW Burke Museum. She has focused on providing classes and educational opportunities about traditional Korean music and dance to Korean-Americans.
