Biographical NoteReturn to Top

In May 1941 civilian volunteers were organized into an Aircraft Warning Service to act as airplane spotters. All observers received extensive training in aircraft recognition. This training was so successful that it spilled over into the non-AWS population. Aircraft recognition became a significant hobby providing many with thousands of hours of entertainment (Wikipedia 5/20/2014). The MacGregor family was living in Montana when these scrapbooks were created.
