KPLU (KNKX as of August 2016) is a public radio station broadcasting from Tacoma, WA. The station was originally founded in 1966 by Pacific Lutheran University. It has been notable as a public radio station for its focus on jazz and blues. It is now one of three full NPR member stations in the Seattle area. Its call letters changed to KNKX in August of 2016 after ownership of the station was transferred to the nonprofit group "Friends of 88.5".
