Content DescriptionReturn to Top

This collection mostly contains photographs and nitrate negatives taken by Clyde A. Putnam from 1912-1923. Many of the photographs are portraits of his wife, Bertha, and son, Clyde, Jr., as well as other unidentified people. There are also many views taken by Putnam of the Columbia River and Columbia River Gorge, including photographs that may have been taken during an Oregon Camera Club trip to the Bonneville, Or. area in 1917, as well as other views of places in Oregon. Most of the negatives in this collection have corresponding prints, and Putnam's negative numbers (beginning with "CAP") are noted in this guide.

The other photographs in this collection are studio portraits of unidentified people taken by Buchtel & Stolte and William H. Towne of Portland, Or., circa 1873-1884. The subjects may be relatives of the Putnam family.
