Historical NoteReturn to Top
In 1975 the Supreme Court ruled (Lau vs. Nichols) on bilingual instruction in elementary and secondary schools. The University of Washington Education College established this program to train teachers for this work. Field workers implemented programs in Washington, Alaska, Idaho, and Oregon. This program began under a Title II grant, establishing the regional office at the University of Washington.
