Biographical NoteReturn to Top
Prabhā Atre (1932-) is a composer, music teacher, and classical vocalist from Pune, India. She learned classical music from Sureshbabu Mane and Hirabai Badoekar. She earned a BA from the University of Pune and a PhD from Gandharva Mahavidyalaya Music School. During her career, she has released a variety of LPs and won many awards including the Lifetime achievement award from Pune University. She is currently one of the leading representatives of the Kirana Gharana, one of the most prolific Indian classical khyal gharanas.
